A Message From The Fanwood Police Department

The Fanwood Police Department would like to ensure the safety of all residents.  The following tips are recommended for use by residents while away on vacation.

Please make sure all doors and windows in your home are locked,  If the home is empty for a period of time, give the appearance that someone is home.  Leave lights on timers, a radio playing, and a car in the driveway if possible.  Be sure to have a friend or neighbor collect morning newspapers and mail.  The lawn should also be cut while away.  These are all signs of an occupied house.

Residents can also request a periodic vacation check on their house by the Fanwood Police Department.  Your house will be visually checked on a random basis as circumstances permit during extra motorized patrol.  Stop in the police headquarters and fill out a request with important information to be kept on file during your vacation.

Also, advise neighbors that you will be away and have them watching for anything suspicious.  Have them call the Fanwood Police Department immediately by dialing 911 or 322-5000 if police services are needed.
