Rules of the road for bicycle riders!

Before riding out of a driveway into the
street stop and look, left, right and left again for traffic.

Ride on the right-hand side of the street in
the same direction as the flow of automobile traffic.

When riding with others, ride single file.

Stop at all stop signs and look left, right,
and left again for traffic.

Walk your bike across busy roads and
intersections

Use hand signals to show others that you are
stopping or making a turn.
Tips for safe bicycle riding, ages 5-10

Always wear a bicycle safety helmet!
Have an adult help adjust the straps so the helmet is not loose on your
head.

For good balance, check to make sure
you can touch both feet to the ground when you sit on your bicycle seat.
If the seat is too high, ask an adult to lower it for you.

Tell an adult if anything is broken or
wrong with your bike.

Watch out for people walking and cars
backing out of driveways when riding your bike on a sidewalk.

"One seat, one rider!" Riding
an extra person on your bicycle is Dangerous.

Wear brightly colored clothes so that
others can see you better.
-
Keep both hands on the handlebars and
carry packages in a basket, carrier, or backpack.

Avoid riding you bicycle at night or
in bad weather
